I really want to emphasize working with others this year.
A year ago, I could not find a good way to harness my creative abilities. With more time away from most other people, the world gave me more anxiety than chances to use my time in a constructive way.
Then I happened upon @StorytellingCol and published an adventure. Published some more content. Designed a game. Joined the bird app. Started meeting many of you.
So, I want to give something back.
Of the various hats I’ve worn, the one most dear to me is as a teacher. Not just because I love the sound of my own voice, but because I actually love the moment something clicks in another person’s brain and they hit that firm ground to run with their ideas.
I asked in a poll and often see people who wish they could be more creative. Or can’t find the motivation to follow through on a project. Or any number of other obstacles.
I know that feeling. I want to help others get past that barrier. If you are trying to write, create, design, publish your ttrpg idea and need a coach, accountability buddy, instructor, etc. – I want to help.
I’m not an expert, but I’m a peer who has gotten that far and who feels much stronger about getting others to that point. This is not an offer to collaborate and create together to share the income, nor a sales pitch to offer services for $. I just want to be a presence to help others take those first steps. I have a decade of teaching experience, and more than that of creative expression through digital media.
You might be wondering what I’m getting out of this. I’ve been looking for a way to push creative expression for those facing obstacles – whether those are resources, knowledge, or motivation. This has literally been my dream for several years. In all honesty, I’m not the one doing the heavy lifting. That would be you. I just want to be a helpful voice and an ear to listen to help motivate you to get past that first barrier and put your creation into the world. Of course, I want to get to know awesome creators, who like me, might have been holding back until now. And over time, I hope some of us do collaborate on projects, or that I can help match people with different skills into successful partnerships. (I’ve been in bad ones, and I know how important it is to find great working partners!)
Now, this is still a bit of a big idea shoved into a little space. So I need your help to make it happen. This is exactly the type of offer I needed, but would have found an excuse to refuse. If that’s you, then I get you. Who’s with me?
DMs are open. Let’s make some magic.
